From the recording Fragments of becoming
Lyrics
The glass is cold against my skin,
a guest in rooms I’m living in.
I slip away like a whisper in the hall,
alone in the crowd behind a rising wall.
Who am I when no one’s left to see?
When the mask dissolves and leaves only me.
The air feels thin where silence grows,
but something underneath me still says go.
The mirror tells
what the gaze tries to hide.
Between the fragments,
something is changing inside.
There’s a dandelion breaking through the stone,
a stubborn kind of life I’ve always known.
Not loud, not perfect, not untouched by pain
still reaching for the light again.
From the shadow to the spark,
from the ash into the gold,
I am learning how to open
what survival kept closed.
I am no longer
a heavy locked door.
I’m breathing in ways
I never did before.
I carried silence like a second skin,
mistaking numbness for discipline.
Held every fracture deep behind my teeth,
afraid of what would happen if I breathed.
But carbon changes under pressure slow,
and roots still search for water far below.
The dark behind my eyes is not my fate—
it was the ground the light had to break.
I don’t want to disappear
inside protection anymore.
Even fear is softer now
than the emptiness before.
There’s a dandelion breaking through the stone,
a stubborn kind of life I’ve always known.
Not loud, not perfect, not untouched by pain—
still reaching for the light again.
From the shadow to the spark,
from the ash into the gold,
I am learning how to trust
what my soul already knows.
I am no longer
a house without windows.
I can finally feel
the air moving through.
Maybe healing
was never becoming someone new.
Maybe it was always
returning to the part of me
that kept surviving quietly
beneath everything.
The smallest flowers
still break concrete.
There’s a dandelion breaking through the stone,
golden in a place it should not have grown.
Every wound became a doorway in the end,
every silence learned to bend.
From the shadow to the spark,
from the fear into the flow,
I am living with my windows open,
letting life move through my soul.
No longer hiding.
No longer closed.
The light was always there
waiting beneath the stone.
Windows wide open…
Let it in.
Let it grow.
